Nazi Checkpoints in America…

This is a very interesting exchange between a man and police at a “checkpoint”.  Is it me, or is this a little bit scary that we have this going on in the United States?  The banner of “security” is frightening…

Must See Video: “I Don’t Need To Stop at a Checkpoint to Prove Who I Am Because This Is America”

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

-The Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution

With local, state and DHS checkpoints randomly popping up all over America many of our citizens believe that we must comply with what more often than not amounts to unlawful requests and orders from law enforcement officials.

While driving through California, Steven Anderson came upon three such checkpoints and he chose not to play ball with officers who asked him, among other things, to prove his citizenship, prove his identity and pull over for further inspection and questioning.

When asked whether he was a citizen Anderson’s immediate response was, “that’s my business.” When advised that it was the officer’s job to ask the question, Anderson calmly responds by saying, “I don’t have to answer you, because I have rights as an American.” The law enforcement official courteously asks Mr. Anderson to do him a favor and pull over for further questioning, no doubt expecting Anderson to comply. But not today, as Anderson patently refuses to do so per his Fourth Amendment Constitutional protections. He subsequently makes his own request, saying to the officer, “no thanks, I’d like to just go on my way.”

All of it was recorded on a digital camera in Anderson’s car and out of view of officers.

What you’ll see below is a crash course in exercising your Constitutional rights when faced with the threat of detention, interrogation and random searches by Federal or local law enforcement officials. You won’t see this one in mainstream media, and it’s something they certainly don’t teach in college:

Anderson: Is this Nazi Germany now, that I have to show my papers?

Officer: It’s a simple yes or no. I need an answer or we can detain you until we figure out whether you’re a U.S. citizen.

Anderson: Well, you know what’s more simple is the fact that my freedom is a little more important than you seem to think. Setting up checkpoints where people have to prove that they’re a citizen is not something that America is supposed to be about. So, I’m not sure if you understand that.

Supervisor enters scene: Grunt

Anderson: Grunt

Supervisor: Just pull up over there (points to line of detained cars)

Anderson: No, thank you… I want to go free on my way. Here I am just going about my own business and I don’t need to stop at a checkpoint to prove who I am because this is America. Correct me if I’m wrong – did I stumble into Mexico or is this still the United States?

Supervisor: This is the United States.

Anderson: Therefore, I should have the freedom to travel unmolested, because I’m in America here.

(pause)

Supervisor: Ok, go ahead and go.

Why this isn’t on the front page of every media outlet in the country is beyond me. In our mindless search for security, we are giving up our freedom. We are sheep being led to the slaughter.

At least these police officers were more or less courteous and professional. Not a single one of them tried to kick his head. So not all is lost.

  6. JadedZack says :

if you listen closely the police officer at the third checkpoint says check the car,so its most likely that they were running his licence plate.

How about doing this at the borders & where ever else immigrants come into the country not after they are into the states.

  9. Beauty Along the Road says :

Very poignant. I am surprised they did not detain him for refusing to provide his ID.

I re-read this tonight, and realized that after Ferguson, and all of the police killings in the name of freedom, and the militarization of the police, that today, Anderson would have been led away in cuffs at best, murdered for resisting a law enforcement officer at worst.

It’s interesting that you say that because I re-watched the video in that post about a week ago and thought the same thing. After reading “Rise of the Warrior Cop: The Militarization of America’s Police Forces” by Radley Balko, the author clearly shows how municipalities, working in conjunction with federal officials, have “justified” this rapid and over-the-top militarization through the so-called “war on drugs”. Yes, they have now added the element of “terror” to the mix, but most of their tactics and the horrid picking away at the Bill of Rights occurred before the implementation of the Patriot Act. Thanks again for commenting!

Spot on Man. The eroding of our rights began while the ink was still wet on the Constitution. The idea that was supposed to become the U.S. was sidetracked, perverted, and substituted for the original.
America was envisioned as an ongoing experiment in what was then a new concept in modern government; the notion that the average person was capable of deciding his own course and lifestyle; religion and habits; good and bad.
An ever evolving petri dish of forward thinking and freedom providing ideas.

It is neither of these and has not been since it’s inception. Those wealthy movers and shakers quickly saw the opportunity for corruption and used it to effect.

The Patriot Act has merely given the Police something else to use as an excuse for denying us our rights.
The nature of our society and our “Freedom” means that the Police can abuse you; search you; arrest and convict you; and punish you before you can find your way through the correct legal procedures required to challenge their original search at all.

Much like the Constitution itself in that any state or local government or court or police department can do anything they like and if you have recourse at all, it is a lengthy process of expensive appeals leading to an arbitrary decision by the Supreme Court as to whether they will even hear your case. If they refuse you have zero recourse and the effect is the same as having no freedom at all; of living under a Police State.
