Nope, there’s not a punch line. And no- this is not a headline from Murdochs tabloid the NY Post nor the moonies Washington Times.

Thousands of kids in Louisiana will receive public vouchers to attend private schools in the state that teach the Accelerated Christian Education program. And among other gems, will be taught that the Loch Ness Monster is real. Apparently this proves that dinosaurs and humans shared the earth at the same time, and disproves Darwin and evolution.

From the biology book used: Are dinosaurs alive today? Scientists are becoming more convinced of their existence. Have you heard of the ‘Loch Ness Monster’ in Scotland? ‘Nessie’ for short has been recorded on sonar from a small submarine, described by eyewitnesses, and photographed by others. Nessie appears to be a plesiosaur.”

Another claim is that Japanese fishermen have caught a dinosaur.

    I also heard Big Foot is running for Congress in Lousiana’s 3rd District. Given his minamilist lifestyle, he’s running as a Republican on a zero tax and no government platform. However, his support for maintaining the state’s coastal wetland forests put him at odds with his own party.
